Table of Contents

Important: Before You Start

CalSyncAlert reads events from your iPhone's built-in Calendar app. If you use Google Calendar, Outlook, or other calendar services, you must first sync them with your iPhone Calendar to use this app.

1. Required Permissions

CalSyncAlert requires specific permissions to function correctly. Here's what you need to know:

Permission Purpose Required
Calendar Access Read your calendar events to set appropriate alarms Yes (Essential)
Notifications Send alarm notifications when events are approaching Yes (Essential)

How to Grant Permissions

1 When First Launching the App

You will be prompted to allow calendar access and notifications. Please tap "Allow" for both.

2 If You Denied Permissions Previously

Go to SettingsCalSyncAlert → Enable Calendars and Notifications

Note: Without calendar access, the app cannot read your events and will not function. Without notification permission, alarms will not alert you.

2. Calendar Integration (Important!)

CalSyncAlert works exclusively with the iPhone's native Calendar app. This means it reads events from the calendars configured in your iOS Calendar settings.

7 Make sure Calendars is enabled (turned on)

Using Microsoft Outlook/Exchange with CalSyncAlert

For Outlook or Exchange calendars:

1 Open Settings on your iPhone
2 Tap CalendarAccounts
3 Tap Add Account
4 Select Microsoft Exchange or Outlook.com

Using Other Calendar Services

For other calendar services (Yahoo, iCloud, etc.), follow similar steps:

  1. Go to SettingsCalendarAccounts
  2. Add the appropriate account

Once synced, your events will appear in the iPhone Calendar app and CalSyncAlert will be able to read them.

Tip: After adding a new calendar account, it may take a few minutes for all your events to sync. You can open the Calendar app and pull down to refresh.
