2. Understanding the Interface
Four Tabs
Habiting organizes your habits into four tabs for easy management:
Todo
Tasks waiting to be completed today
Done
Tasks you've completed today
Skip
Tasks you've skipped today
Log
All tasks with history and statistics
Progress Bar
The progress bar at the top of the Todo tab shows your daily progress:
Green - Completed tasks
Yellow - Skipped tasks
Gray - Remaining tasks
3. Creating Tasks
Adding a New Task
Tap the + button to create a new task. Choose from two task types:
Task Types
Daily Task (Checkbox) - Simple yes/no completion. Tap to mark as done.
Daily Count - Track quantities. Tap +/- to adjust the count.
Task Examples
Checkbox: "Exercise", "Meditate", "Read"
Count: "Glasses of water: 8", "Push-ups: 50", "Pages read: 20"
4. Managing Tasks
Completing Tasks
Checkbox tasks - Tap to mark complete (moves to Done tab)
Count tasks - Use +/- buttons to adjust count
Skipping Tasks
Swipe left on a task to skip it. Skipped tasks move to the Skip tab and won't count against your completion rate.
Editing Tasks
Tap on a task in Todo, Done, or Skip tabs to edit its details.
Reordering Tasks
Press and hold a task, then drag to reorder. Your custom order is preserved across sessions.
Tip: Arrange your most important habits at the top of your list so you see them first each day.
5. Viewing Statistics
Log Tab
The Log tab shows all your tasks with detailed history. Tap any task to see:
Completion history by date
Streak information
Overall completion rate
Visual calendar of completions
6. Settings
Day Start Time
Configure when your "day" begins. Useful for:
Night owls who complete habits after midnight
Shift workers with non-standard schedules
Appearance
Choose your preferred display mode:
Light - Bright theme for daytime use
Dark - Dark theme for low-light environments
System - Follows your iOS settings
7. Categories
Creating Categories
Organize your tasks into categories for better management. To create a category:
Go to Settings and tap Categories
Tap the + button to add a new category
Enter a name for your category
Filtering Tasks by Category
A filter bar appears at the top of the task list. Tap a category to show only tasks belonging to that group. Tap "All" to view all tasks.
Editing and Deleting Categories
Swipe left on a category to edit or delete it
Deleting a category does not delete the tasks within it - they become uncategorized
Tip: Use categories like "Morning Routine", "Health", or "Work" to quickly focus on related habits.
8. Apple Health Integration
Enabling Health Data
Habiting can connect with Apple Health to automatically track your habits. To enable:
Open task settings and enable Apple Health
Grant Habiting permission to read Health data when prompted
Configuring Thresholds
For checkbox tasks, set a threshold value. When your Health data reaches this threshold, the task is automatically marked as complete.
Auto-Sync for Count Tasks
Count tasks linked to Apple Health automatically sync their values from Health data throughout the day.
Tip: Link a "Steps" count task to Apple Health to automatically track your daily step count without manual entry.
9. Location Reminders
Setting Up Location Reminders
Receive reminders based on your location. Location reminders are set per category:
Go to Settings > Categories
Edit a category and set a Location
Grant Habiting location permission when prompted
Trigger Types
On Arrive - Get notified when you arrive at the location
On Depart - Get notified when you leave the location
Tip: Set a "Gym" category with an arrive trigger at your gym location to remind you of your workout habits.
10. Weekly Reports
Enabling Weekly Reports
Get a weekly notification summarizing your habit achievements:
Go to Settings and enable Weekly Report
Choose your preferred day and time for the report
What's Included
The weekly report notification includes your overall completion rate, streak highlights, and a summary of your progress for the week.
11. Tips for Success
Start small - Begin with 2-3 simple habits
Be specific - "Exercise 20 min" beats "Exercise"
Use count tasks - Track quantities for measurable goals
Check daily - Open Habiting at the same time each day
Review Log - Check your statistics weekly for motivation
